They May Say I'm A Dreamer

I have always been a dreamer. I dreamed of traveling before I was old enough to know there were so many places to go. I dreamed of being an author at the tender age of five. I have also, always, striven to be the best I can at whatever I am doing and given one hundred and fifty percent. There have been times when this was not so well received. There have been times when it cost me relationships at work. I didn't understand why at the time. Then I heard Oprah say, "Never shrink so that others do not feel small around you." She is also quoted as saying, "Don't you dare shrink yourself for someone else's comfort. Do not become small for people who refuse to grow."

Once, my sister and I watched a movie called Dreamer. I remember my beloved sister, in the midst of her cancer journey, looking at me and saying, "Doesn't it just make you want to do more and be more?" And it did, but not because of the uplifting movie. I wanted to do more and be more because my sister still felt that inspiration. I wanted to because if she felt that way while she was fighting for her life, how could I forget my dreams and passions?
